This year we purchased chicks from the Alchemist Farm in Sebastopol. While we have incubated and hatched our own eggs in the past, I wanted to try some of the breeds they raise. Please check out their website, the Alchemist Farm.
It was so fun when the box of chicks arrived at the post office. The chirping box made me smile.
Our chicks started off in a dog crate in the barn with a heat source to keep them warm. We then transferred them to a larger refrigerator box home. Yesterday, we moved them to a stall in our barn. They love the extra space to scratch and peck!
They grow up fast - they are teens now. Siena calls them, "Teenkens."
